How do you make a rag quilt. I know there are patterns available, but I thought that if I had a general outline of how to make them then I wouldn't need to buy one. I love the fringy-raggy texture on all the outside seams. Any help is appreciated. Buttons ( enjoy what you have because when it's gone then you only have memories.):Canada:

The main idea is layers of squares sewn with the raw edges on the top of the quilt. I think it is usually 3 layers but others may have a better suggestion.

Hi Buttons!

Here's a site with free directions:

http://www.joann.com/content/projects/projectsDisplay.jhtml?articlePath=%2Fcontent%2Fpro jects%2Fstatic%2Fnew%2Fragged_quilt.html

If this doesn't work, go to www.joann.com and search for "Ragged Homespun Quilt".

The seams could also be 1/2"; just depends on how "raggy" you want it to be.

Are you staying warm in Manitoba? It is unbelieveably cold here today in North Dakota. The car felt like an ice cube this morning!

Happy Quilting!
