I made quite a few of those a few yrs. ago for the girls in my DD 5th class when they took swim lessons & for my DDs & sisters & nieces & then I made the pattern smaller & made them for the Great nieces. When I was done I had a lot of strange shaped pieces of terry so I serged them all together & made a beach blanket then I took all of the straight pieces and made another one. I also used some of the end pieces & made small rice bags for the lunch aids @ school. they would microwave them just before they went outside & they could keep them in their pockets for hand warmers. Just thought you might like some ideas for the scraps before someone turns them into dust rags.

Barb all my scraps like that go to dust rags almost. I use my hubbys Tee's that are old for waxing the cars.

I would like to tell you of how mine differ from that pattern.. It is a small difference, and you can decide if you like it or not.. I insert the elastic loop in the small end of the wrap and stitch it securely in place.. then I sew a 1 inch button near the bottom of the large end ... to use just follow instructions , but you just button the elastic loop onto the button after the twisting, and it holds so well. I have made a lot of these. I gave a dozen as Christmas gifts 2 years ago... and then, a lot of those people bought some from me as gifts for their friends.. I made some slightly smaller for young girls and they love them.. My dear GD asked me to also make one for her Barbie..I did not do that.. She soon forgot about it.. I buy the bath towels from Wal Mart a lot.. (when they put them on sale 2/$3.00 )...
