I am considering a janome serger, basic. My fabric shop owner says they have less of a repair problem. she does not sell machines. Also What about White, viking, Does anyone have one? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

I started out with a Janome 644D ( I think that is the right #), anyway, it was a fantasic little machine. It was super easy to thread, could change to a rolled hem in no time and the stitch quality was out of this world!! I was not impressed with the white models...way too noisey, the janome just felt and sounded better. I took a serger course. I was the only one that had a Janome. When getting set-up I was threaded and ready to go in under a minute...the next 2 hours was spent threading and adjusting tensions for the other machines...which were mostly White/Viking sergers and we were at the Viking/White dealership...was not impressed with those machines. The ladies had a eye opening experience with Janome that day!! |

If you move this conversation over to the Serging forum, you will probably get a lot more responses.

I've had my MyLock 144D for I guess 5 years or so. It's been great!! Sews no problem through thicker fabrics, corduroy, denim, and gathers, too! But lately I've been having problems with the tension on lighter weight fabrics, including calicos. I took it completely apart very carefully and used a small paint brush to clean the lint and threads out. It works a lot better now, but I still think it needs a lil' doctors visit for tension issues, and probably lubrication since it's been 5 years or so. |
