I am not so sure if I am doing this right- LOL This board is different than most I belong to- at any rate... Hi!! I am new here & more than anything love participating in craft boards on-line. I am not as active right now as usual as we are very soon moving and I am in the middle of packing and getting particulars together. Happened upon this board quite some time ago and kind of browsed the posts but didn't join or make a habit of checking back frequently. Well, I used to sew- not a lot but have made quite a few things- thing is - it was over 10 years ago- well I have sewn since then but not anything major- just some sew and stuff items, ornies, and general crafts. I am very interested in getting into sewing again- major!! I hope you all can help me- with questions, suggestions, tips, & tricks, etc- About a year ago I bought a Tailor sewing machine at a showing at a hotel here- very nice, had every function you could think almost plus it was fully metal constructed- well about 4 months ago I sold it(after using it once on a very minor project)- well I have a new machine from Christmas- a Brother XL 5340- My husband bought for me because I really hated getting rid of the other one- For the projects I'd liek to do- I am hoping this machine is for me and w/o being in the "sewing net" for so long, I am not sure- I intend to sew- pattern work, but would also be using this machine for general type crafting, I also would love to learn how to make quilts- the actual quilting I can start on later but the block making, etc- I am aching to learn- AND it wouldn't be bad if I could do a bit of embroidery by machine- although this particular one doesn't have that option- Oh my, I am making such a long post you all are going to hate to see me coming- :nervous: LOL Really, I wanted to say Hi! & I really hope I can get to know you all much better and learn so much that I will soon be able to contribute as well- (I do have loads of patterns and sites with great free stuff though) :bluewink: Very nice to meet all of you & will be chking back and browsing to see what I need to learn to get started.

welcome to the gang "i" I found the best way to get to grips with differnt blocks and so on quilting was to follow the easy lessons that Joanne has here on the site( Joanne, my hero!) that was enoght o get me seriously hooked into block hunting.
Julie's sewing lessons are really useful aswell and I picked up qite a few tips about getting the fit right from those so well worth thinking of as a resource when you get into garment sewing.
Until joining the site I hadn't done garment sewing for a l-o-n-g time but this has brough me right back to it so just jump on in and have fun!

Hi Margot, Thx for the welcome and thx for the tips- These lessons...? how are they given on the internet? I would be very interested- I saw on another post that some type of lessons start March 1st- I would love to get in on this- The quilt blocks are a must to learn- I have quite a few patterns and can follow them pretty well- I may only need help there on things like seam allowance, pivots, etc- also quality fabrics- although, my main want right now is to use recycled jeans- I have loads since I have 5 kids!! I would love to do a denim "quilt" even crazy quilt style although I have found some really neat patterns- Can we post sites etc on here of things we have found as far as paterns, new ideas, etc?? I have a site full of patterns to do with denim! Have others too- would love to share f we are allowed to do that here.
Well, thx for the welcome- oh & no worries on typo's- I am very versed in "typo language"- LOL I think sometimes that my second laguage is english- first language is "typo" - Am going to browse- I see a few others here are newbie's - AGAIN! Am going to also chk on these lessons- will be great to be able to get some skilled knowledge- Hope to get to know everyone here better soon- until then... Take Care
