hi all

i want to make some little sleeveless tops from stretch fabric, and bind the armholes.

would normal bias binding be ok for this? i seem to think i've seen bias binding made from stretch fabric and i'm not sure which would be easier to work with

thanks in advance :bluewink:

Debzy,
All of my serger books and any articles I have read in magazines etc... always say use the knit for binding if you cannot match ribbing for binding.. If the fabric is really really stretchy, the binding s/b 2/3 of total length.. If normal stretch, (interlock, for example) then it s/b 3/4 of total length.. I love geometric prints and floral prints and I make lots of t-shirts for myself. If I don't have ribbing to make a perfect match or contrast, then I use the self fabric and bind with that.. It works quite well.. Try a sample and see if you like the way it looks.. I just do not think ordinary bias binding would work very well with a knit.. But,, why not make a test swatch of both and see what you like best..:bg: :bg:
