One of our cats has developed a fascination with walking across the pool cover. Almost every day for the past couple of weeks, I've caught her playing on the "giant water bed". She seems to be chasing air bubbles underneath the cover. DD and I will go outside and remove her. It's not long before she sneaks back to it. We peek out the back door and holler at her and she runs like she knows she's not supposed to be doing that.
It's weird because she was so terrified of the pool last summer.

DD is so afraid that the cat will tear a hole in the cover and fall in and drown. It's tied down pretty tight, but you never know.

Any suggestions to help keep her off?? I thought about pouring ammonia around on the cover to see if that would discourage her, but I didn't know if it might get in the water and cause problems when it's time to add chemicals this spring.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Have you ever played on a parachute, there is a game called cat amd mouse where one person is the mouse underneath and one the cat on top - I can see now why she thinks this game is such fun. She probably hasn't eqated the pool cover with water - it might be time to do that.

The best way I have ever found of discouraging my cat from doing anything is to make him wet. Various cat psychology books say the same thing, if you have a problem with a stray cat coming in your house than stand him ( when caught) in a sink of water he won't be back. It works, but wear motorcycle gloves. Getting wet doesn't harm a cat, they can swim, but the loss of dignity...

I have also hosed my cat to discourage him from climbing a particular tree as it is next to the railway line - watered the tree above him and he soon came down. Would it be possible to spray your cat with water while she is playing on the pool cover, the water won't damage the pool and I don't mean hit her wilth the full fire hose, but enough to get her wet and uncomfortable so that she assosiates wet =pool cover?

Why didn't I think of that?:whacky: That's how hubby has always kept the cats out of the flower beds.
I tried it, and she has lost interest for now. Too busy grooming herself now.:bg:
We'll see how fast she forgets.:nervous: :bg:

I ccan't remember where Ifounf these:

Cat Haiku

Grace personified,

I leap into the window.

I meant to do that.

Want to trim my claws?

Don't even think about it!

My cries will wake the dead

My cat always pretends he meant to do something if he falls over, or out of a tree - sits down and cleans himself.
