Hi...I guess you could say I cheated today and hemmed a dress on the wrong side.It was just a 1" straight stitch hem after I turned it over about 3/8 off an inch and pressed it in place.I couldn't catch the fold of the material in the topstitching so I spent alot of time ripping it out and resewing. Finally I turned it inside out and sewed it in notime because I could see what I was doing!I know to turn the fabric to the inside when handsewing but isn't there an easier way by machine.I'm just lucky that the bobbin thread had the right tension so it looked fine.Is there a easier way to topstitch a hem?
I hoped I explained this correcty.
Thanks,
Lily

You mean your not suppose to hem on the wrong side of the garment? Sometimes even switch the threads around to have the perfect match of color in the bobbin, and then back again to do the next row of top stitching from the right side of just do it again from the wrong side? I'm a firm believer in what ever works for me. Of course maybe I'm reading your post altogether wrong. I feel kind of dumb here, what am I miss reading?

Thanks for your reply.I understand what you're saying about the topstitching. It was hard to explain. You have a good point"whatever works for me"I think I'll go by that in the future. :bluesmile
