questions – do you think 33.00 for this manican is a good price? Do you think that a manican makes it easier to set up a dress or blouse? I’m not talking about selling or displaying it , just putting the garment together instead of laying it out on the dinner table. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2883991894&category=46921 |

It looks like a store mannequin...you can't pin on it, it might not be good for trying your clothing on. You really need something that you can pin on. If you just want to put something on it to see how it looks, well I guess it would work. (sometimes stores give away store mannequins, depends on where you live..bigger cities do it more than small towns)

Every so often I sew a garment /pattern I've never made before. It never fails that I just can't get my head around one of the instructions, but if I put it on my sewing dummy it suddenly becomes clear[amazing what your brain can do when you have the chance to actually SEE something you can't quite visualize] For that reason alone I'd get the mannequin. If you ever do buy a dress form, just toss it. Or save it for Halloween and do something outrageous with it. |

I wouldn’t have thought to look under dress form. See there I learned something already. You know I’ll hang out in the fabric department even comment on colors, but I draw the line on being a manican or pincushion. So I thought to myself that I could make a manican (dress form) for her. Sure enough I’m not the only one who thought this, but why do you say toss it. http://www.taunton.com/threads/pages/t00002.asp |

If I had the opportunity to buy one for that price I'd get it even if I just used it for halloween. Just think of the possibilities of what you could do with it. |

I wouldn't be without my dress making form,it s a singer with dials to change for different sizes, now they are a bit costly to buy ive had mine for years.Once you have one though its nice to be able to place even pinned garments on them,If i want to make a change on a blouse for example,I leave it on the form for a day or two, until I get an inspiration on what i want changing. I did have one prior to this one and sold it in a yard sale big mistake that was, because i got into sewing more over time and missed it so much I had to buy another one lol.I call mine suzy! and she never talks back to me when i get flusterd lol. If at first you don't suceed, try-try again!
