I just finished Making a long taupe jean skirt ... It turned out pretty good ...I bought some Binding and hem clips when I was in the States last November ...Are they ever a great notion to have ...they remind me of little girls Barettes...they made the hemming on the skirt go much easier...I highly recommend them ...When I top stitched my skirt I did it with one of My fancy stitches on my machine... I realy like the look. Patting my Back...LOL...making a vest to match tomorrow.I'm going to Florida on Feb 2nd for 3 week's with DH... to Daytona for the Nascar Races. I'm gettig excited.

Just a little history on those hem clips...they were and still are hair clips. They replaced bobby pins for curling the hair...way back in the days when you wore curlers and/or made spit curls and the like to bed at night...until the invent of curling irons. Someone apparently found them useful for sewing. They are cheaper to buy them in the grooming section rather than a speciality item for sewing. |

Hi AnnH ...Do I remember bobbypins ... my mom made me curl her hair with those bobbypins all the time when I was a teen... and if I didn't want to... she would not let me go out... so I would get mad at her and bite the end's off a few...which of course picked her head...then I'd get it for that... and have to stay in anyway LOL... stupid me. I use to sleep in brush rollers myself... thank goodness for those curling iron's. I even remember spooly's... Do you? they were a treat LOL. Bren:
