Hi,
I really don't know if this is the message board, I am looking for, however, I am sure my question will be answered.

Help, I am at my wits end, I searched the internet, ask friends, and I am getting nowhere.

I am a morning person, wee hours, and I would like to have my dial up modem quiet, where it does not wake everybody in the house.

As far as I know, I go to control panel, click on the modem icon, properties, and then connection, advance and under extra settings, I was told to key in that space ATMO, well that didn't work, but I am pretty sure, that is the right area, I just have to get the right code.

If, you could help me, I will be a better person.

Thank you in adavance,
Rhonda

this is what I found.

"Depending on your OS you can go to Control Panel and select the Modems applet and in Win9x/ME check/uncheck the box for select the Properties button and adjust up or down the volume of the modem speaker. Sometimes that does not work and a second route is to go to the Connections tab and select the Advanced button. Near the bottom is an area to add extra settings. To disable the modem sound, the entry is ATM0 (AT=attention, M=modem sound, 0=Zero not letter o and means no sound). In W2K Control Panel> Modems and Modems tab, Properties> Advanced tab and enter the above string there or go to Control Panel> Network and Dialup applet> select your ISP and right click on it then select Properties. Select the Configure button for the Modem and near the bottom of the page is a check box for modem sound.''

hope it help

Yannik,

You are wonderful, I connected to the internet without a sound...I and my whole family appreciate it very much.

I was on the right track, I was entering ATMO letter O, not the number 0, makes a big difference.

Thank you, thank you..
