You must all know by now that there are multiple viruses out there infecting computers. The latest, MyDoom is the fastest travelling virus so far. My son got up this morning to over one hundred and forty virus infected messages. He runs on Linux, so he is fine but for the rest of us I recommend you make sure your virus programme be updated immediately. Do a virus clean of your entire computer. Here is an online remedy that is free. Go here http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/com/activescan_principal.htm and click on the free virus check. It will download the ActiveX and then clean your computer of any viruses you have. I am not affiliated in any way with this company, just trying to keep the viruses away. MaryW

Luckily I live with a 'puter geek....I don't worry about the computer...I also don't know how to use it very well because of the geek....I ask and he always supplies the answers.. (it also helps/hinders that he's a bit of a paranoid where the computer is concerned..we have more safeguards on this computer than we have on our house and vehicles) Chrys

I have been getting notices that email was returned, details are in an attachment. I just delete them. I never open attachments unless I know what they are and I didn't send the emails they reference as undelivered. I figured it was some kind of virus that I don't want. Doroty |

Dorothy, I've been getting emails like that too. I deleted them. I've been scanning for viruses often, and so far show none, but this one confused me.......... yesterday my firewall showed a message that said.... The application iic1E.exe has been recognized as a malicious Trojan and automatically denied access to the internet. I ran my virus scan again, and still okay. What did this mean?? Is Dave around???? What is the difference in a virus, a trojan, or a worm??? Does virus scan software also detect trojans?? |

Those "e-mail undeliverable" messages are the virus. It is called mydoom@mm. The virus arrives in an e-mail messagae. This is a mass-mailing and peer-to-peer file-sharing worm that contains the following characteristics and abilities: contains its own SMTP engine to construct outgoing messages -- that is it attaches itself to your address book and sends out messages to everyone in your address book; contains backdoor component (subject: varies, such as) error, status; server report; e-mail transaction failed; mail delivery sytem; hello; hi, etc. DO NOT OPEN THESE E-MAILS OR THEIR ATTACHMENT! DELETE THEM IMMEIDATELY AND THEM GO AND DELETE THEM PERMANENTLY FROM YOUR SENT BOX OR TRASH (RECYCLE BIN). You will get messages that your e-mail has failed, or your virus alert is not functioning. Click them off your screen immediately. Do not click the oks as you will start a download of the virus into your computer. We've had it here in Oklahoma all week long. All you can do is delete them as they come in. Patsy Patsy
