Had to take 16yr DD for some xrays of her pelvis and and ultrasound of her shouler - results ok. After I had paid the bill and on the way out she said that would have bought enough fabric for to make a quilt and perhaps she shouldn't report ailments so that she could actually get the fabric instead !! Had a wee chat about insurance paying etc but had to laugh she surely does have the quilting bug. She is well under way with her flannel quilt. While we were away visiting relatives last weekend we visited the local fabic shop she added to her flannel fabric collection More plastic containers for her room as well Skye |

It's one of the harder afflictions to deal with...sooo much fabric..sooooo little time... Not to mention the hand tremors when you get near a fabric shop....the blindness to everything, BUT the fabric shop...the deafness that happens when someone talks to you IN the fabric shop and you're concentrating on fabric...and worst of all....not being able to breathe because of all the fabic you've piled in your arms at the fabric shop..... Good thing theres no cure for this affliction... Good thing she's also young...it's full effects haven't taken over her whole life....she still makes it to school ??? Chrys

Skye, I envy you having such a daughter. She is going to be nice company for you on your fabric excursions.

me too. my daughter has no interst at all in quilting (except for wanting me to make her quilts). they say that the sewing/quilting bug (or is it any bug?) skips a generation, so now, even tho she, and I, are still young (20, 46 ), i can't wait to have a granddautgher that I can share my passion with.

Yes Mary she is good company in fabric shops. However she aids and abets me by actively encouraging the aquiscition of more fabric - not that I need much encouragement. She is also keen on snoop shopping so that she can copy the clothes she likes sold in the expensive /branded shops. She might lament like I often do when I decide that I am actually going to buy RTW =- no time to sew etc etc and I always seem to come home with fabric. Skye |
