I think Super Bowl halftime was crass, tasteless and full of NO talent people. Whoever booked the acts for MTV should be fired. I KNOW theres talent to be had out there, somewhere... They could have had Josh Groban and Beyonce sing for 15-20 mins and it would have been a better show.... The less I see of the Jacksons the better I like it....Janet should go hide with her brother..... It spoiled what could have been a great Super Bowl (at least for me...) I haven't watched in about 8 yrs and I'm kinda sorry I did. Chrys

I agree with you, Chrysantha. I didn't think any of the acts at Halftime were any good...but what can you expect from MTV They only know how to produce 'crap', if the TV station is any indication. The show was really a big disappointment for me. Surely there is a singer out there who can sing about something other than sex, drugs and booze, who doesn't need to be surrounded by half-naked people, and who doesn't feel the need to grab their 'nether regions' 1500 times during a performance. A lot of people watch the superbowl with their kids, and this certainly wasn't family entertainment. I wonder how the youth group at my church reacted...they were getting together for a party. I'm sure they weren't expecting anything like that. I thought Beyonce did a lovely job singing the anthem, and she dressed appropriately...with class. Josh Groban's performance with the choir behind him was also very moving. As for the Jackson/Timberlake thing, they are trying to say it was an accident...yeah, right! They just pile insult after insult on the public...they really think we're stupid! Take care,

What do you think it was, done on purpose and for what reason? My first thought was to take the focus off of Michael J's charges. I think everyone was grossed out.

I think it was on purpose...after all, 'it' was decorated, and he didn't tug very much, but the piece of clothing seemed to tear away easily enough. If it were an accident, he would have been shocked to find part of her top in his hand, and I think, the natural reaction would have been to try to give it back, so she could cover up. I think it was just another stupid bid for media attention...kind of like the Madonna/Britney thing. There were rumours about a surprise appearance during the Janet performance, and of course, the speculation was that it would be Michael...guess they had something else in mind. Take care,

I cannot understand why we allowed this... You do realize that Timberlake/Jackson are laughing all the way to the bank EH?? The MTV people should be sued severley (this is AMERICA, ya know!!)... then we will see who still knows how to "rock~n~roll".. The kids are loving it and it will GROW... into a money issue far greater than you will ever realize.. The Jackson clan knows how to drop their noses into our business, shame the "big brother" method into selfish manipulation of money does buy everything ~ and now.. Janet knows how to fly her "its" around.... At this stage of the game.. their FAME makes me feel dirty!! Karen Karen

the bright side to this is MTV will no longer be part of NFL again. the commssioner (at least this one) won't let that happen, even he was shocked. i would have loved to have been in those meetings today, the heads that are rolling over this one. it is funny how the NFL uses sex in many ways to sell its sport, yet even this was tooooooo much for them. someone said that maybe Justin wanted to upstage his ex, britney. go figure. |

I hjeard that it was done to publicize her newest album/cd that is in the process of being released. Who in their right mind would want to listen to a druggie/slut or let their kids listen to her wail about sex, abuse, drugs, sleeping around, etc. And, as someone else said, what is with that family that they are always grabbing their privae parts as if to point out to the rest of the world where they are? Who care anyway??? Thank goodness, I didn't have it on. DH feels the same way. He was walking the dog at half time and he said besides, he has much better things to do than watch a piece of trash like Janet Jackson. I heard the NFL commissoner on sports talk radio this evening and he was really hacked off and stated that he would personally be revieweing all halftme shows for the super bowl from now on. He must have really been ragged on by the viewing public today. Patsy Patsy

I look at it as just another member of a VERY disfunctional family, trying any way they can, to be noticed. Not one of those children grew up without some kind of mishap happening to them. Do you blame their parents who pushed and pushed to make them stars? Do you blame the people who live for this stuff that keeps the media going? What about our greed for the ALL MIGHTY DOLLAR!!!!! Face it, as a whole, not only in the USA but in other parts of the world too, our morals and family values have gone to h*ll in a handbasket. And we have let it!!!!!! Maybe this was the beinging of the "last straw" of what we will and will not allow. "We" have a voice and "we" ARE voicing it, loud and clear to the FCC. "We" now have to step up to the plate and stand our ground that "we" do not and will not accept this as normal. "We" need to learn again how to be a parent WITH morals and VALUES and NOT affraid to say NO, this is not acceptable. If you want to be a gutter-snipe then go elsewhere to do it and not where my children are or will be!!!!!! OK, I'm off the soapbox now, next........ |

storm in a C-cup I like that. Don't we, as a culture, have more important things to worry about than a boob? Dorothy |

Absolutely, the less attention paid to the whole thing the better. The uproar has died down now anyway, something else will pop up.

I think we have many very important things to worry about in this culture, some things much more serious than others. Does that mean we should ignore offensive, disrespectful public behavior when it occurs? To ignore it would be like inviting worse behavior as the next media-hungry performer tries to outdo the last. Sad to say, popular entertainers do have a lot of influence over young people, and they should be held accountable. The very least we can do is voice our discontent.
Take care,

Yes, that's true. If no one said anything, goodness knows what would go on. I just mean I hate the idea of these people making millions of dollars from disgusting behaviour.

Janet Jackson/Jason Timberlake.. have been signed in on for the grand TIT finale night on the GRAMMY show : Like I said.. in my prior post.... a MILLION or more will be made from this "Faux pas" that made history and $$$$$$s for all involved!!! This is America... the land of freedom.. the home of the BRAVE.. I would wish.. but it is unfortunate that a new movie will allow "the brave can be eaten up by the tit girl!!!"" Sorry.. I hate the idea.. I am a 60's woman.. hear me ROAR.. but guess what the ROAR is not heard under all of the inflated breast.. nose implanted, therefore inflation.. rules... my voice is small.. Karen the little one... Karen

Well, Sopa Operas are soft porn in my opinion. I just wonder why Janet gets all the blame when last I heard Justin was the one to pull it of of her. But I guess it is such a huge deal because everyone who watches television was so disgusted by a breast. I guess that is why I have such trouble breastfeeding in public because of the disgust of my breast. Get over it! the internet is not 70% porn for nothing, we are not the saints that we claim to be. The farting horse commercial was more disgusting than that! |

I don't think that Janet should be the only one to blame, but I don't think for one second that what happened was an 'accident'. The whole show was offensive, but the grand finale was the catalyst that set people off. And, no, it wasn't 'just a breast'. I think you need to look at the context in which it was done. The show ended with a man tearing clothes off a woman...and we are supposed to accept that as fantastic family entertainment? Yes, there is plenty of garbage on television, and maybe this incident will lead to some changes in that arena...but, I won't hold my breath. Take care,
