Does anyone have any tips on getting the smoky smell out of a book? I bought a good book, secondhand, but it smells highly of stale cigarette smoke.

I've been letting it sit on the ledge of an open window, but that isn't helping much, yet. I wonder if sealing it in a ziplock bag with baking soda would work? Maybe I'll give that a try...my idea for 'drycleaning' a book.

Appreciate any ideas you have on the subject.
Take care,
Donna

I've heard of putting things in a bag with charcoal, that soaks up odor too apparently but I haven't tried it.

Try putting the book in a box with some baking soda. It will absorb most odors. I use this technique with my cooking books which smell of spices and garlic after a while.

Another trick is to put soap papers thingys (the ones you can take on travel, they come in a wad) between pages. But if the book is too old, the soap might damage it.
