Does anyone have a tip on how to put a perfectly STRAIGHT stitch in boning channels when the bride wants the channels sewn on the TOP of the dress, from the same material as the dress.

thanks much for your help

Try cutting the channels on the straight grain, as opposed to bias(this will prevent stretching and "roping"). Measure the width of the boning and add 3/4". This will allow for a 3/8" turn-under on either side. Press. Sew the strip to the garment on the fold, insert boning and use a zipper foot to guide you for the second row. Hold the boning snug against the first seam and run the zipper foot against the boning as you sew. Use the tip of your scissors to tuck in fabric at the top and bottom, and secure with very small stitches.
