When I am tracing a pattern piece on SS fabric, or I guess anything for that matter, is it important for the grainlines and everything to be measured like you do when you layout your fabric? I have got a big piece now where I have spliced pieces together and I didn't know since all I am doing is tracing the pattern piece. I know my sides aren't even on this tracing medium but didn't know if it would matter until I lay it on the fabric and then I know I need to measure from the grainline to the selvages or fold.
Thanks,
Jolene

Jolene: If you want your pattern that you are tracing to be as exact as the original you are tracing from, you should include all of the markings, etc., including the grainline arrow, making sure that it is in the exact spot that it is in on your original pattern. If I were tracing patterns, which I don't, I would trace them in their entirety to be sure my traced one is as exact as the original. Otherwise, how will you know if you are cutting or laying the pattern correctly on the fabric.
