Ladies,
Can you tell me how I'm going to cope.My Joann fabric store is closing its doors Saturday Feb. 21.I wont have a place to run to quick and my big depressing issue is ,I work there. I guess it really didnt sink in until yesterday at work when i cut fabric non stop for eight hours. Its 70 to 90% off right now.i watched alot of great deals go out the door and i must admit i have bought fabric every night for the past two months.Today my day off i went in to shop and cryed the whole time i was in there.People must think I'm dippy. My boss has been a wreck since the first of december, because she to will be out of a job.Joann's hasnt offered us jobs at other stores. And a recent email that went out to all joann's stores states they will be opening 30 new stores next year.Just needed a little steam outlet i guess. Thanks for listening.

Sorry sewsalotlove, I'd be crying too if I were you. We don't have any fabic store here close to me all I have to buy fabric at is Wally World and they are limited. I have to travel 30 or more miles to Joann's or Hancocks. Hope you can find a job doing something you like.

Hugs susie

Sewsalotlove, you will get another job at another fabric store. With your loyalty and know how, they can't not hire you back at one of the other stores.

Tell them I said so! :bluewink:

Hey Sew,

Where are you at in Ohio? I'm in the Akron area about a 30 minute drive away from their Headquarters.
I cried when they closed the closest Hancock fabric to me. Now I have to go to Youngstown, 60 miles away to the closest store.

Wow 30 minutes to Wally World? I drive 1 hour :bluesad:

You cannot find a zipper in this town! I really need to start buying it all online I suppose.

It is hard for me to tell though what the fabric is like without touching it! LOL

I've considered a fabrice store here, but will it make it? will I loose my savings? We do have alot of Mennonites here though, I wonder if they would shop at my store.

I too mostly buy from Wal-Mart. What a ghastly selection they have!

I'm leaving for Phoenix on Saturday for a few days. Hubby has a convention or something. Hello Hancocks!!!!

Oh Laura I would not be able to make it if I had to travel 1 hour to Wally World. When we move if we ever do, I will be 30 minutes to the closest one and I thought that would be bad. With all the people who sew on these boards I wonder why the fabric stores and places that specialize in sewing supplies are going out of business. My step Dad had a sewing center before he retired and that was why he went out of business he said the department stores like Walmart was selling the machines cheaper than HE could buy them as a dealer. We have 4 JoAnn's within 30 minutes from me but all are across town and the traffic in New Orleans is unreal. We had a Cloth World here in Chalmette and Walmart put them out of business. I love the 1.00 table but often I like to buy quality fabric and Wally World has so little to choose from here.

I think most of it is internet shopping.
