I am posting this for someone who contacted me. Please respond here if you can. Thanks.

I recently purchased the Luderloh system from a seminar I attended at Hancock Fabrics here in Tucson. I drafted a dress pattern for myself and made, but it ended up being a very poor fit. I also draftet a suit jacket pattern for one of my customers and it also was a very poor fit. However, I did draft a simple t-shirt style pattern for another customer and it turned out fairly well. I measured off of the left side of the tape like instructed to with the pin in the center mark of the small pattern, but had more bad results than good. Is there some trick to this that I am missing. I read the instruction manual as well as veiwed the video tape. I took the measurements as outlined in the instruction video and had some serious fitting problems. The jacket pattern I drafted was too small in the front and much too large through the back. My dress pattern was just ill-fitted all over. I am an experience seamstress as this is my daily job. I work with all kinds of fitting problems, ie. dowagers back, scoliosis and so on. Please let me hear from you.

Sincerely,

Rhonda Smith

When using the Lutterloh you need not to make tight measurements. Some people pull the tape where they want it instead of where it is supposed to be. Did you also add the seam allowance to the pattern after it was drafted. I use two #2 pencils taped together with one lead on the drafted line and one making the new cutting line. This gives a 1/4inch seam allowance. Also another thing that might have happened is that you cut one inside the lines and one on the lines or on the out side of the lines. These little things that are easy to correct in a purchased pattern make a world of difference to the Lutterloh system.
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!
