Well Ladies it happened. My step Dad passed this morning. I got the call from my SB and SS. They moved him from the hospital to Hospice this week and he passed this morning. He fought long and hard and he's finally at rest. Thanks for all the prayers. I may not be able to make it to the service, it's not going to be a long one, 2 hours tops they say. I have the surgery on Tuesday and can't wash my head or bend or anything for a few days. I will miss him. But I'm glad he's in heaven now.

Love susie

Susie my prayers and sympathy are with you and you family. As hard as it is to see a love one pass, it is much harder to see them linger and suffer. It is also much easier when you know where he will be spending eternity.

Thanks Patsy, I know he is with my Mother and his first wife now at peace. I bet they are having a wonderful time about now up there. Poor darling had a lot of suffering while he was here the last couple of months.

Sorry to hear of your loss Susie, not unexpected but still sad. Don't beat yourself up about not getting to the memorial service, it is unavoidable. Services are for the people left behind to achieve closure, there is no reason why you can't sit quiet and rmember him on your own and all the joy that he brought.

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow - I used to work in an eye hospital (no, in the kitchens as a washer upper!) and we had to produce mush for people who had surgery so that they didn't chew - chewing affected all the facial muscles and they didn't want to disturb the eye muscles. Only for a day though and you are not having that tyoe of invasive surgery so it may not apply. Then again, perhaps you are just going to have to eat a lot of ice cream....

Sorry Susie, you know I am thinking of you. He is in a better place now.

Magot is right, just because you might not make the service doesn't mean you aren't thinking of him.

Thanks for all your kindness. I tried to do what I could for him while he was living so I have no regrets now that he's passed. The service is mainly for the living so my SS and SB know how I felt about him.

Magot clean out your Private mailbox. I tried to answer you but your box is full. LOL

I'm getting nervous. Just got back from the doctors, my pressure is very good 120/70. So it's go go go for tomorrow morning. I have to be there for 8:15AM I'll probably won't be able to get back on here tomorrow but if I can drag this old body up to the keyboard I'll let you know how I did. If not you'll hear from the Wednesday. :bluesmile

Sorry about your loss Susie.

We had a funeral this morning. My DH's Grandmother passed away on Thurs. night. She was 93 yrs. old & had trouble with pneumonia the last week or so. She died very peacefully @ home with her family. I hope I am lucky enough to go that way when my time comes.
Again sorry for your loss & good luck with your operation. If it isn't too personel what are you having done? If it is just tell me to MYOB.

Thanks barb, It's not personel. It's caterac surgery. I have to have one on each eye done one this week and one the next week and I'm a big chicken when it comes to my eyes. I've had ceserean sections (3), back surgery and oral surgery but this one is the one that scares me the most. I get sick just thinking about someone poking around on my eyeballs. So everyone here has cheered me on and prayed for me so I know I'll be fine. Thanks.

Ladies the count down has begun. Just a little under 14 hours till they begin.

Susie I understand that catarac surgery is done so fast these days that it's over long before you expect it to be.

Thanks Patsy. I know it's just that I feel like this. It should have been over yesterday. LOL I told you I wasn't a patience person. God has to work on me with this virtue.

Did you make the pasta yet?

I'm hanging in there Mary. Thanks for asking. Just a short time before I get the eyes done and with no coffee I'm a little rattled but I'll be okay I know I have a lot of nice people pulling for me. My step Dad's service is Thursday I'll let you know how that goes if I can make it by then. Thanks for being there when I need someone, you and the others really do make a difference. Thank you so much.

Sorry for your loss Susie.
Don't worry about the operation, I don't think they poke you in the eyes.. it's laser surgery. They will use a laser beam to take out the cataract. My grandfather had one last month and they did it in his lunch time(yes, he still works(lawyer)..he's 82, bless him) :)

Cheers!

Hi Savani,

They didn't use the laser with my eye. I don't know why but they told me it wasn't going to be laser surgery. What they do is cut a small slit in the eye so they can break up the old lens with the caterac on it and then remove it and replace it with an implant. I can feel the implant in there when I move my eye to the side when my head is straight. I guess that will go away eventually. The first 6 hours after surgery was the hardest but now it's doing fine. Thanks for all your support.
