I want to subscribe to a few new sewing magazines. I get the ones in Wally World when I see them but sometimes when I find one I really like I never seem to find it again. I like a magazine to have a lot of ideas for new techniques and projects. Any suggestions? I love to look at the quilt magazines but there's not many sewing ones locally.

I personally like sew news and threads. Not much else available around here except sew beautiful which has a lot of smocking in it which I don't do. I did subscribe to sew salvey(spelling) at one time. Didn't really care for it for my desires. The austrailan magazines are good as well but fairly expensive. Doesn't seem to be too much out there for just sewing, lots and lots of quilting stuff. Does anyone else know of other magazines for sewing?

Sew News and Threads of course. I pick up the pattern companies "magazines" that are really nothing but catalogs. But sometimes they have something interesting.
I really like Belle Armoire - Art to Wear - too. Some of that stuff is incredible and I pick up ideas that can be toned down for the kind of work I like to do.

Woody,
I felt the same way about Sew Savvy up until the last 2 issues I received, and they have really done an about face... They have a lot more articles in them now..and I was ready to cancel my subscription, but I have changed my mind.. I believe they have been bought out or have new CEO or something.. I also like Sew News ..

I just subsciped to the sew saavy one in January. The one with Clothtite right? A two year subscript was 19.95. That's for 12 issues I think. The issue I got yesterday from them had lots of ideas and plenty of ads for notions and such. I like that in a magazine. Also decorating ideas for the home. I bought today, a magazine at the supermarket, a little late, but it was a machine embroidery magazine. It has lots of ideas in it also. I don't have a very good imagination but if I see something I can usually copy the idea and make my own version of the samething.........hence the need for magazines.

Here are the ones I get in the mail. Sew News, Creative Machine Embroidery, Janome Digest & Sewing Savvy. I get great ideas from all of them. I'm sure there are lot more good ones out there but oh the expense. I have all my mom's old quilting mags too. I'll keep watching this post to check out what some of you like that I haven't seen. I do embroidery & home dec is my first love but do some clothes once in awhile. I have a hard time fitting myself, better at fitting others. Theresa

I'm the same way Theresa, I make blouses for myself and sleeping pants but that's it. I like to make things for other people............... or home dec things like you. I think I might look up the Embroidery mag I liked the one I got today. I have a few of the Sew News ones but not all the issues. I liked the Sew Beautiful too but it has lots of small childrens heirloom things and I have no one to sew that sort of thing for anymore.

I love Threads and I try to pick up Sew News every once in a while. They have new sites every month to check out.

Sewing Savvy really has changed. Used to be just for home dec. now it is expanding. I think Clotilde made the change to accommodate her notions business. Just guessing, but it makes sense.

I think Threads is one of the best I have ever seen. I have a running subscription to it. I wish I had time to try all of the projects in them, but they give excellent tips to sew using designer techniques and such that are so valuable. I used to subscribe to Sew News but haven't done so in a long time. I also subscribe to Vogue Patterns Magazine and to Buttern Patterns Magazine. Each issue also have good sewing and construction tips.
