Please advise this lady if you can, thanks.

Hello, I have an older Singer sewing machine that does not have a feed dog that I can drop. Is there a way I can do this without much trouble? thanking you in advance

My older Singer and my older brother both had plates that fit over the feed dogs rather than dropping them. Just flat clear plastic pieces that snaped on.

For free motion embroidery and quilting on my older machine. . .
I've had luck with setting the stitch length to zero (so the feed dogs don't move), then covering the feed dogs with a wide strip of painters tape. The painters tape won't leave any residue behind, but do make sure the surface is clean before you apply the tape or it will not stick properly.

On one old Singer that I had there was a metal plate that screwed on to cover the feed dogs. On another there was a button that said darn. That will drop the feed dogs.
