Well, I checked the bobbin and made sure that the bobbin is going clockwise.(as the directions state, I thought it meant the thread coming out not the bobbin itself) I also called a few sewing machine stores to make sure I was using the right type of needle, the technician said that shmetz universal work fine for Euro Pro sewing machines. I have schmetz universal needle in the machine now, still having the same problem. The bobbin thread is not catching. Any other ideas? THANKS!!! |

Have you dropped your feed dogs or are they in the up position? Also, are you remembering to drop your presser foot when starting to sew? I know this sounds silly but when one is frustrated, then these common mistakes happen. Ask me how I know this to be true ... LOL!!! Hope this helps. Marty It takes one moment to change a life.

Did you pull your thread tails to the back of your machine, then put your fabric under your presser foot.

No. I only have one thread. The top thread. The bobbin thread is not catching on the top thread to pull through. After it latches i normally do pull the threads to the back of the machine. THANKS!!! SHarie |

Did you take out the needle and put it back in making sure it is in correctly. There is a flat side that ususally goes to the back. You can probably kinda peak up there in the needle holder to make sure where the flat side goes. We're running out of ideas here. Dorothy |

Ok, your bobbin is in properly, the tail of the thread is available to be picked up. There is something screwy under there.

I've had that problem in the past when I purchased my new machine: I used the old bobbins I had but they were not made for my new purchase. |

Sharie, Bobbins are different for each brand of sewing machine even if they look alike. Check with your dealer for the correct bobbin. Also, my computerized machine is finicky if there is a spot of lint around the bobbin. After each project, I clean the lint out from under the throat plate and around the bobbin and change needles. I also use bobbin thread for most of my garment sewing. Hope these tips help you get the satisfaction that you want from your machine. Happy Stitching! Marty It takes one moment to change a life.

O my! This may sound really stupid ... but what is bobbin thread?? I am just learning that we need to have heavier thread for the different needles and fabric and that thye need to ALL be compatible...... Sew much to learn... I must say though when the machine is working IT IS SO MUCH FUN!!! THANKS!!!! Sharie |

Dede, you are our hero. I have never used bobbin thread. I usually use the same type top and bottom. That is, unless I am doing some sort of embroidery or top stitching. MaryW

Bobbin thread is put out by different manufacturers. It is a very lightweight thread usually in black or white that blends evenly. I use it all of the time for garment sewing so I don't have to stop and wind the bobbin so much. I keep several bobbins filled and just make a quick change. YLI is the brand that I use and it is terrific for embroidery work too. I learned about bobbin thread from Superior Threads and from my Pfaff Club. Now, I seldom sew without it. I've never used bobbin thread and you question was not stupid: A lot of people do not know what bobbin thread is, inluding me. I usually match the bobbin thread to the thread I'm using for a project. Always remember, if you have a question to ask, there a HUGE possibility a lot of people also have that same question. |

I knew you used a different type of thread for embroidery but didn't know it could be used for garment construction also. Live and learn. See Sharie, we all learn from this group. Where, in general, on the Mighty Miss River are you from, if you don't mind me asking? I live a stones throw away from that lovely lady. She's almost, you might say, in my front yard. Just across the street. At night when all is quiet, I can hear the motors of the ships going down river. Awesome. |

Sharie, I know the ladies have mentioned having the bobbin in the case correctly. But have you pulled the thread through the slot on the bobbin case? Usually the bobbin is placed in the bobbin case, pull the thread through the slot, and then place the bobbin case in your machine. Hold the top thread, turn the wheel until the bobbin thread comes up. Hope you find out what's wrong soon! Good luck! |

Sorry so long to post, I was down with the flu . SUsie, I am living in Davenport Iowa- Quad cities. I printed out everything on the board and a friend also told me to check the tension. I went through and checked everything on the board.- and the tension. And I ended up lowering the needle in addition to going through all the other suggestions. This is not really the correct way I know, but it is working .... I will try to get into a sewing machine repair shop, if it is not too expensive and see what I need to do to have it work properly. Instead of rigged up.. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
