I found 5 yards of buckram at a thrift store for 3.00. Lucky me! But unfortunately I do not know how to work with it. Is it fusible? Or do i have to sew it in? And if I have to sew it in,how do I do that? I am too chicken to take the iron to it to find out. Please help me if you can.

Thanks,Cat

Buckram is found inside of hats. It goes around the entire inner edge for stability and shape.

It needs to be sewn in. I used it to stiffen Muffs for my sisters wedding about 25 yrs. ago. If I remember right it is easy to get a paper cut from.

Thanks for replying so quickly! My fingers are itching to use that stuff. I am going to use it for interfacing for purses. So should I just cut it the same as my pattern piece and sew it on to the wrong side of the fabric? Then use those two pieces sewn together as one piece? It's early in the morning here and I can't talk/type very well, sorry!

That's how I do it -- like sew in interfacing. I don't know if it shrinks or not. Eventually it loses some stiffness.
