im making quilt and am going to embroider the squares with words. can anyone tell me any stitches that would look good for that?

My choice would be satin stitches.

A lot of embroidery like redwork is done in the outline stitch too.

Your right Mary, guess my brain was sleepy when I didn't think of the outline stitch also. Maybe I shouldn't try to help before I go to bed.

You can also make words by couching narrow cord(s) on the fabric. Use either thread matching the cording or invisible thread, which is what I use for ribbon embroidery, too. Any script can be done by freemotion machine embroidery or by handwork. MariLynntx
