Hi I just started to learn how to sew. I am so lost at it I have had a nice machine in my basement for a year I couldnt figure out how to use. I kept jamming up the bobbin. It was given to me and I didnt have the manual. Well, I finally went and bought a small Kenmore machine and am trying to learn. I pulled out the old machine and (hate to say this) was putting the bobbin in upside down. Well guess it happens right. Now I have 2 machines, so I guess I better learn I have been looking around here and it seems like a great place. I have made 2 nice pillows for my couch. Didnt do a bad job at all. Now I have to learn how to buy fabric. Almost bought 3 yards but found out I only need 1 yard Yikes!! I am not good at math. I am really excited about this and am on my way soon to check out the fabric stores. I think i will learn a lot here. Seems like a perfect place for me to start |

Learn how to buy fabric?? LEARN HOW TO BUY FABRIC!!! Hear that gang? Do any of us know how to BUY FABRIC? Just haul out the cash -- pull out the plastic, Honey. You say "Give me three yards of this -- no I really like this stuff --give me five." It's easy -- JUST DO IT!! But once you start, if you figure out how to stop tell us the secret!! Dorothy |

Well for a really new beginner I am not doing to bad. With a few tips from a friend I managed to make a pair of tab top curtains. I have been reading the other posts and I am going to invest in some good thread. I have some that is over 10 years old so I guess I should throw out. Makes sense that it will break down after a while. There seems to be much help here I am so glad I found this site. My machine is a kenmore that I just bought for $80. and it is working great for me. Thank you for allowing me to join here |
