I just thought I would share with you all what I have been going threw for awhile now... I had a tumour removed from my chin at Christmas... I was told it was cancer... any way I was terrifed and went threw hell worrying... I went back and the doctor said I was a very lucky girl... he got it all... I have precancer all over my face and I had to hava a chemical peel done today and have to have them done every six month's... it is burning like a bad sunburn...
No I don't look year's younger as it wasn't that deep of a peel...LOL... My skin feel's very tight ...will peel in the next couple of day's...I have a lot of sun damage on my body that I will have to keep my eye on... but for now and hopefully for ever I will be fine...

The reason I'm sharing this guy's ...is to ask you to please stay out of the sun and use your sun screen... I had so many bad sunburn's when I was young ... I am very fair... the doctor told me the sun is not my friend anymore ... I have to stay covered... and use sunscreen ...tanningbooth's are the same as laying in the sun. I will never get another sun burn again. Skin cancer is not a nice thing to have.

The tumour started like a little tiny red dot ... I thought that it was a little pimple...it started to get bigger... and I couldn't cover it with cover up anymore... everytime I cleaned my skin it hemoraged and I would have a hard time getting it to stop bleeding... It was getting very nasty looking ... my daughter made me call the doctor... I knew that it was not normal but I was scared to face it ... anyway that was a dum move as it could have went right threw me.

When I heard cancer... I almost it the floor... even thow I suspected it ...to hear it is a different story.

I hope this help's someone ... please use your sunscreen.
If you see something that is not normal on your skin please get it checked...we got mine just in time. I'm a very lucky Lady!!!

What a terrible ordeal for you to go thru, Bren. Wishing you a full recovery for sure. I have one son-in-law that hates to put on suntan lotion because he doesn't burn easily. I told him about a lady on our street that lost part of her nose and cheek to skin cancer and it seemed to hit home. So, you are doing a good thing by sharing your story. Let's hope some sun worshipers listen to you and take your advice.

Sun worshipers are kind of in the same denial arean as cigarette smokers -- they will tell you that getting and keeping a nice sun tan isn't that harmful and that look at them, it has never really had any effect on them or their skin. Just like cigarette smokers tell you that their coughing and breathing problems are not smoking related but rather they have astham or allergies. Right!!!

I have a sister who is 13 months younger than I am and looks 20 years older than I do because of her years of sun bathing either at the beach or in a tanning salon.

Bren,

My brother in law has been out of pocket since before Christmas we could never get him on the phone. Well to make a long story short, he told me when I did reach him last night that his second to oldest daughter opened a new tanning business. She just opened it last month and already has 33 clients. She ordered her 3rd tanning bed and he installed it for her yesterday. This is big business. She and her 3 sisters and mother and father all spend plenty of money on their tans all year round. With all the knowledge we have about the harmful rays of the sun and these beds that's how many people are not taking this seriously. Thank God you did and in time. I have to stay out the sun now too not only for skin cancer but also once you have caterac surgery they tell you to stay out of the sun or protect your eyes with a sunshade or good sun glasses.

I have an older brother who has had numerous skin cancers removed from the top of his head. He works outside year round and is bald. He now has to wear sunscreen on his head and a hat at all times when he is out. BTW he never burned when out in the sun. Has an olive compexion so it just isn't sunburns and fair skin though they are more prone to have the cancers form.

Thank-You for Sharing BREN
Thank-God it's been removed.

My Teen son has VITILIGO on half of his lower (RT) face and the Doctors told him he is now more susceptible to the sun; therefore he needs to use sunscreen and a hat to cover that are of his face from now On.
I had bought him a whole bunch of Cool hats that teens were( I made him carry one in his book bag all the time and made sure his Sports Sunscreen was there too)...In the beginning he did listen to doctors warnings and wore the hats and religiously put on the Sunscreen....but after a while he stopped....I'm sure... Kids in School(Middle school) started teasing him...or stared at him...So now he doesn't wear them at all....Sometimes I see his white area blood shot red like he has been bitten or scratched a lot, leaving it very Dark Pink. It Worries Me tremendously.

He has gotten sun poisoning twice...his skin blisters up in water pockets.
He won't listen to our warnings...despite the fact of seeing pictures and giving him advice.
If you don't mind...I would like to share this post with him.
Thanks Again ....I'm Happy For Ya that it turned out well.

Thank's lady's... I noticed my skin all over were I got all the burn's is very dry ...I have to apply a lot of lotion...It's sun damage ... and it ages a person..

Tell your son I know it's hard ... I did not much like sitting at a race in Florida with a huge sun hat on long sleeves covered in sun screen either... but I want to live for a long time ... so please son ...I know your young but you really should pay attention to the doctor's order's ... I never thought that would happen to me either... I would love to tan... but those day's are over for me. Be good to yourself. :bluesmile

hey bren, i had a mole removed from my scalp about 2 years ago and it was precancerous, they told me that if it started bothering me again that they would have to dig out a big hole! so that has me going to the dermatoligist to get all moles checked out now! so your not alone on this one, i think we should buy stock in sunscreen. oh well, keep your chin up and remember it could always be worse... i'll keep you in my thoughts!!! isn't it funny how we women always think of ourselves last, always to busy taking care of our family first.

Your stories have hit close to home for me.I am covered in moles..even my face.I see my dermatologist every 4 months and it seems like every time I have to have at least one removed. The results always come back abnormal but BENIGN.I've always been petrified of having one or more removed from my face...right now I thank God that that is the least of what could possibly happen..I can't even imagine how it would be to lose part of my nose and cheek due to skin cancer. It makes me shudder at the thought.
I've also been very lucky...
Thank you...I wish you all the best...
Lily
Sunscreen is also part of my daily routine...right along with the moisturizer :bluewink:

Thank you for your strength and courage in sharing this information.
My 15 year old daughter always wants to go the sun tanning place in town and I have been feeling mean for saying no. Your message has helped me.

I am glad to hear that you were lucky and are doing very well. I hope and pray that you will continue to be healthy.

MaryBobbins --
When my girls were that age they wanted to tan too. I told them they would have to have skin cut off their rear end grafted to their face and everyone would call them Butt Heads.
They still wanted to tan.

Bren, I'm glad you reminded us to wear sunscreen.
I've never had much of a problem with sunburning. I tend to tan, but now we know that's bad for us too. Both my parents have had skin cancers removed from their faces.

Both my kids inherited their dad's pink skin and really burn without sunscreen, so I've always bought it for them. I just sometimes forget to use it myself.
:nervous:

I saw proof that the sun causes wrinkles too. I saw my MIL changing her shirt one day. Her skin that was never exposed to the sun was smooth. Everything above her collar and her arms are wrinkled. :nervous: I don't think she's ever used sunscreen in her life.
