I need your help! I am in the process of buying my very first sewing machine and I was made a very interesting offer on a Janome RX18S. Has anyone of you heard of/used this machine? I plan to do mostly garment sewing. I want a machine simple enough for a beginner, yet with sufficient stitches to "grow into" the machine. When I read the company's description on the Janome RX18S, it seems to fit my needs, but then... I'm so unexperienced... Could anyone here give me their opinion and advice on the Janome brand, and possibly on this specific model? Than you so much for the help. Reading this board is always a pleasure - and always of great use! ~Isabelle~ English sewing journal: Kitty Couture

Janomes are great machines The one you are looking at is a basic machine and it will do what you need for apperal. This machine is made for all to sell it is not a dealer exclusive. Do you have a dealer around? You can try out the machine with the fabric you will be sewing with. The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

Thank you Aimee, you seem to know quite a lot on sewing machines! I'm going through the boards with "Janome" typed into the search box. The more I think about it and read around, the more I feel I really want that machine... It seems to suit perfectly my needs and "abilities" (or absence thereof! :bluewink. Thanks again for sharing your experience! English sewing journal: Kitty Couture

I should have kept you posted on how my purchase went, in case someone else was looking for information on this machine. Well I did choose the Janome RX18S, and it's a great machine. I sews very quietly and has a range of beautiful stitches. It does a very fine work and I've been very happy with my choice ever since I got the machine! To sum it all, I really concur with everyone's praise on Janome English sewing journal: Kitty Couture
