I went to Hancock Fabric today they had a big sale on all kinds of things. The most important thing I went there for was the patterns were on sale for $1.99 each Simplicity patterns. All month they ran the patterns on sale one week they had mccalls the next week they had another one and I missed them but I made up for it today. I got 8 patterns. There was a limit on them....... 5 for each person so I took my granddaughters with me and they each got a pattern they wanted to make for themselves. One got a cute skirt pattern and the other one is a little on the heavy side and she got just a shirt pattern. They checked out their things themselves of course MawMaw had to pay for everything but they got to see how much their things were and one of the grands had a pattern for things for her room and she checked out that pattern. It all worked out really well. Then I went to the WalMart here in Chalmette later tonight with my daughter in law and she and I found the 1.00 tables full of deals. We had a ball buying up the fabric on the $1.00 table. They had suit material for men on the $1.00 table, the lady who works there was buying all she could get her hands on. She said she was making her husband a suit for church, it was nice fabric. LOL I had to have spent over 125.00 today just fooling around. I'd be dangerous if I had a plan. LOL Tomorrow I go buy a mattress for my bed. Anyone have a good brand they can suggest. I was told sealy posturepedic was a good one. |

Good deals! Wow. Anything I find on the dollar table is terrible. Those pattern deals are really something. You never get that sort of sale around here. ~sigh~

Nah I really am not that lucky when it comes to getting good deals. I just have a big mouth and tell everyone when I do get one. My step sister told me about the make up bags. They have a place here called the dollar tree and they had some cute little makeup bags for 1.00 and I embroideried names on them as gifts for people and they were a nice little gift for 1.00. The 1.00 table is great at WalMart if you can get them when they first get the fabric. I was just lucky I went in when I did. I usually go after about 3 days and it's all picked though. Hancock has patterns on sale like that all the time I'll have to let you know when it is. They have an online sale also it might be cheaper then buying outright even if the postage is more. www.hancockfabric.com Check them out. The sale is over Sunday March 28th, tomorrow. Joann's has patterns for half price sometimes too. I'll remember to let you know next time I see something like that. |

Congratulations Susie on your great purchases. It's always makes me feel good when I can stretch my sewing dollars and find the things that I want. Today they had a grand opening for a new Hancock Fabrics store in our area. The store had a grand prize drawing for a $1000.00 gift card. Unfortunately, I didn't win that prize. However, I bought 3 Butterick patterns for 99 cents (at this store only for today) and some sewing notions that were on sale for 50% off. I was a big spender at $4.38. They had lots of nice fabric with broadcloth only $1 a yard plus a table of different fabrics for 99 cents a yard. I found 2 pieces of fabric I liked but neither bolt had the amount I needed so I walked away. :cry I'm sure that since they were not the sale fabric, I can probably find them with the right amount at one of the other stores. I'll just keep looking. Happy Stitching! Marty It takes one moment to change a life.

Thanks Marty, A little hint on how I do my shopping for patterns. I look on the internet at all the patterns at www.sewingpatterns.com and print out all the patterns I like. Then when I go to the store when they have a sale I bring the printed out papers with me. It works really well and it saves tons of time looking throught the books at the store. Then when I get home I put them in a folder and I know what I have and don't have just by looking at the folder. Works really well for me. |

I got to go to Hancock Fabrics on Sunday!!!!! It was an hour to drive there since they closed the two that where closest to me!!!!! I went with DH and DS who wants me to make his suit for Prom this year, his senior year. We walked in and there it was, black velveteen with white polka dots for his "George Washington" style suit along with matching shirt. Now I need to find the white with black polks dots to make the fitted vest. This is going to be a hoot to make. He loves to brag to his friends that "HIS MOM" made it for him. He will be taking his test for the Marines next month, I will miss his something awful if his decided to go but this is what HE wants to do. |

Sewhappie, I bet you are the "stationwagon Mom" too. That's a Mom who gathers up all the preteens and takes them to the show or skating ring, ect, where ever. I know you are having fun. Mine are all grown now and the Grands are the ones who are bragging on all the things I make for them. Black and white polka dots? Sounds like my kind of colors. I love black and white together and the polka dots are a hoot. Relish the moment they grow up so fast. |

Here Here, I was the cub leader, Mom who stayed up and picked up the kids at all functions, marched in parades, baked goodies, made christmas crafts, cut out costumes for plays and am still going strong with the Grands. Some of the teaches at one school know me well they were there when my kids were going and now still there with my Grands. Feel proud not many children have that kind of relationships with their parents today. |
