I printed out a page the other day with instructions on making a sundress for a little girl with elastic thread in the bobbin. I can't find my printout and I can't find the thread. Do any of you know where that thread was? I'm having a time finding this. Thanks for your help.

It is usually on a spool in a plastic package mounted on cardboard on the notions wall of any fabric store: Jo Ann's, Hancock, whatever. I don't know if a place like Wal Mart would have it or not. It has been awhile since I have actually purchased it, but I would start by looking in the packages of elastic.

Isew4hobby,
I think you are talking about something I posted a while back.. I think someone asked what shirring was or something to that effect.. In explaining what it is, I described how I made my Darling GD a sundress out of a Daisy Kingdom Remnant of less than 1/2 yard of fabric..
directions :
1. hand wind elastic thread onto your machine bobbin or wind in very slowly if you let the machine do it..
2. Stitch with regular top thread in the machine..
3. Stitch straight lines across the fabric every 1/2 inch or closer.
4. After the stitching is finished plug in your iron, (make sure you have plenty of water in it) and holding it close to the fabric , steam the stitching lines.
5. The elastic will draw itself back into normal position and create the shirring.

This is a very easy way to make an infant sundress. Hem the top with a small rolled edge hem.. Let the rest if the unstitched fabric be the skirt. Sew a seam up for the center back. Hem bottom of skirt, and attach narrow ribbon for straps on shoulders or attach 1 in center for V-neck ribbon to tie around neck..Years ago , someone gave hints on what to do with small pieces of leftover fabric and that was one of her hints.. I have used it several times and keep it in my sewing notebook as one of my favorites because it is so quick to do..
