I AM NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING ON. THIS IS A 'DIFFERENT' TYPE OF THREAD. WITH TODAY'S BUSY SCHEDULES AND LIFESTYLES, I CANNOT SEEM TO GET STARTED ON ANY OF MY SEWING PROJECTS. ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEAS OR TIPS TO START ON SOMETHING SIMPLE AND NOT SO OVERWHELMING? THANKS!

Potholders are good to start with....they're easy and quick...
Simple shirts...I have a pattern thats only 3 pieces...(front, back and neck facing) it takes a whole 30 mins to run up....it's cute too and can be made with any kinda fabric.
Childrens clothes...baby blankets, bibs, etc....
Doll clothes....
Placemats and runners.....mantel scarves...

I think I'm just about out of ideas now...:bg:

When I have this problem I make some thing for my self. Sometimes I cant get started to do things for other people.
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

Make yourself a new tote bag to hold your sewing supplies and sign up for a class from one of your local sewing dealers or visit /join a sewing guild. This always gives me that "swift kick" that's needed to give me that jumpstart back into sewing.
Happy Stitching!

Just keep coming back to these boards and you will get lots of incentives. One of us will surely spark that fire you're looking for sooner than later.

When I find I am taking on too much I sit down and take stock on my too hectic lifestyle and decide what to give up.
Several years ago I gave up housework. I never really cared much for that anyway.
Then a couple years ago I gave up working outside the home and started working freelance (I am a newspaper reporter and writer). Now I realize giving up work isn't always an option, but the housework thing works for almost anybody.
Just a thought --

I wish I could give up housework, that would be just awesome. How can you get by with not doing housework?

When I am feeling a lack of motivation, I like to sit at the sewing machine and play. I test the stitches, using different lengths and widths, try different types of thread and different kinds of fabric from my scraps.
Take care,
Donna

What you need is a "sewing diet". You get all caught up in making something new that you forget about eating ... yeah, right. Housework is a thing of the past. As long as there are paper plates, plastic dinnerware, food in the fridge, clean underwear, and a clean toilet, everything else is nonessential.
Happy Stitching!

Here Here Marty you're my kind of gal.

I do some house work but I'm not a fanatic. Just ask my hubby. If he can't find a shirt he washes one. Sometimes. LOL No...in all seriousness, I use to keep a tidy house and that's all I did was work around the house. As long as it's not filthy I'm good to go. and sometimes I get up and start cleaning and Wala it's all neat for a day. LOL
