I made a shirt pattern by McCall's recently and the shoulders were too tight, I had bunching whenever I moved my arms, and before I make the dress I was planning on making I wanted some tips on how I can fix this problem. My impression was the shoulders were too tight. The rest of the outfit fit fine, but the shoulders had problems.
What do I do?
This is the link to the McCall's pattern I made:

http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/mccallspatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.400004148=x&TI='4148'&pageNum=1&M=&UK=30616058

And this is the link to the Simplicity pattern I am going to make:
http://www.simplicity.com/index.cfm?cat=4&type=19&sec=0&page=thumbnail.cfm&id=59&startrow=10&&maxrows=9&HomeDec=0

It's 9891 (sorry, I couldn't actually get the link for the actual pattern).
This is the best I could figur out how to explain.

This is another one of those "slash and pivot" operations. Slash down from the shoulder, and across toward the sleeve on the front and back, widen the shoulder and redraw the shoulder line and the top, the sleeve should just pivot. When you redraw the shoulder, square off from point to point to redraw your line. If you have extra fullness across the back or shoulder blades, you can make all the alterations on the back and insert darts to take up the extra in the seamline if it is a lot, or ease the fullness if it is a little.

Thank you for your quick response. I was also looking at the garment and measuring all sorts of clothes I had, and figured out that the garments I find comfortable had a couple of more inches of ease in them.
I can't wait to get in there and start sewing now. :bg:
