Hello, I am about to make a tote bag using the fiberglass screen material. I think it will be just perfect for trips to the pool and home! Now, I have no idea what needle to use, what type of thread to use, or what foot! Before I jump in and wreck a few items trying, I thought I would ask if anyone here has already sewn with this. Thank you very much! |

Hi Techymum, I made a trick or treat bag last Halloween that turned out pretty cute. I used a universal needle in a medium size...I didn't bother with using a new needle. And just ordinary sewing thread...I use more Coats and Clark Dual Duty or Maxilock thread than anything else. And I also enclosed the seams in bias seam binding for a neat appearance. Hope this helps! =^..^= Kim

Use an 80/12 embroidery needle but the needle you usually prefer will work. 40 weight rayon or polester thread & bobbin thread. Fiberglass screen is easy to sew on.If you are going to embroidery on it use a water soluble stabilizer. Hope this helps you. To sew the tote I'd use a reg.good sewing thread that matches your screen. White bobbin should be ok but black could be used also. Theresa |

Thank you so much, I feel as now I have a starting point. Good idea the bias binding, otherwise I guess it would be sort of scratchy inside. And yes, I am going to embroider on them, so had not though of using water soluble! |
