The Sew What’s New Archive

Today when I went to the drugstore I stopped to browse the magazines. I saw that Sew News was there so I grabbed that and low and behold sitting right next to it was a sewing mag from Clotide. I hadn't ever seen it b4. Has anyone bought it. Did you like it?

Yep, Sewing Savvy has been taken over by Clotilde. It now has a new format with a more expanded content base.

Mary have you seen a copy? Can you tell us what type of content, level of skills, etc. it addresses.

I picked up a copy of the May Sewing Savvy. I haven't read it all yet but here is a thumb through view --
First letters and a Q&A column.
A review of new products, a web site review

Instructions for a country kitchen runner set, a barbecue apron and pot holders, a barbecue tool organizer, a quilted wall hanging, a mending heart to make for mothers day (a stuffed heart shape with mending tools on it), a heritage photo pillow (just what it sounds like-- a pillow with an old photo on it and lots of lace), travel shoe bags, a vanity table cover, a bedroom set, a scatter pin organizer ( a patchwork wall hanging with pins on it), a fitted round table cloth, a vest with appliques, a leather handbag, pop art pillows (on the cover), lace flowers made on a serger (these are cool but I don't have a serger), an embroidered throw and pillow and a bed caddy.

There are articles on cutting out patterns and cutting tools, sewing sheer and light weight fabrics, designer Sheila Zent and her kits for teen sewers andmaking handbags from commercial patterns.

So I would say if you are looking for small projects and gifts it is exactly what you want. If you are looking for detailed articles on sewing techniques wait for the next Threads.

That's it in a nutshell, thanks Dorothy.

This magazine is the perfect vehicle for Clotilde's notion company. I must say, I like this new expanded version of the magazine, just don't look for technical advice on sewing, interfacings, etc.

I had a gift subscription to Sewing Savvy and I was ready to let it lapse, and then Clotilde took it over and completely revamped the magazine and it is so much better now.. It appeals to me a lot.. I love it.. I also subscribe to Sew News magazine.. I like it also...:bg: :bg:
