Please respond here if you can help, thanks. :bluesmile

Anyway the reason why Iooked up a sewing site was because I have a problem with a zip. It looks great in the garment, perfectly centred with seam lying flat and no teeth showing yet when my friend tries on the denim skirt the seams gape open and the teeth show. How do I correct this problem?

I have tried to post it on the website but for some reason I seem unable to. I hope you can help.
Thanking you in anticipation

Sounds to me as if the garment is too small for your friend's measurements. This would cause the seams to "pop" and the zipper teeth to show because it is being stretched too much across. Trying to make a garment by one's RTW size without taking "true" measurements usually results in a disaster. That's what I think has happened in this situation. Happy Stitching!

I agree with Marty that it could be because the skirt is too small. Also if the zipper a center application that could be the problem. I was taught years ago if the zipper is in the center of the garment to make a centered application and on the side do a lapped. Well, I was never happy with that rule and always do a lapped application. I find that this type seems to lay flat and looks nicer than the center application. Of course now with the invisible zippers the application is the same, and there is no gapping.

It may be even more of problem if it is in a place where the skirt is cut on the bias.
