That jacket is really nice to make out IF YOU FOLLOW THE FABRIC SUGGESTIONS. It also makes a great croped jacket. 9 inches from the arm hole down for the new bottom line.
The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

I am interested in the jacket. I am working on the wrap skirt now and enjoying it. Thank you again. Also the quilt idea sounds great for this summer. The more I use my machine the happier I am. kelso

Would like to get in on the unlined jacket sewing. I may be slow as things get really busy around our household from now until about mid July. But, I will get it done!:bg:

Count me in too. I have some blue cotton denim that I would like to use up in this jacket. Bought it for another, but like this one.

You're right, it seems like a jacket that will do for just about anything!

LOL, I have had this pattern for quite some time, ..so long that it didn't fit me [never made it up] and when I relooked at it , had to go out and buy another pattern,..larger, lol. So now I am hoping real hard to get this jacket done before I have to reinvest in an even larger size LOL. Isn't it strange tho,..still haven't figured this one out....how does a new unused paper pattern shrink in its package, ha ha ha.

I want to join you in making this jacket. I've had the pattern for a while but kept sewing for everybody else but me. Now it's my time. I'm looking forward to this. I've never been on a message board or forum before nor have I ever sewed along with anybody else. Should be fun.

I am excited about this too. I also have never been involved in a forum nor a sew or stitch along. This group activity is a must for me, just the motivation that I think I need...I am SUCH a procrastinator. I love to sew for others but never for me,...I don't like how things fit me when they are done, lol. Hopefully I will enjoy not just the sewing for me part, but the wearing of a newly made jacket that is just for ME, lol.

Hi,

I wish I could make the jacket with you but the pattern is too small. Does anyone know of one a similar in larger sizes? If not I'll just follow along and hunt for a pattern.

I would like to join in, however the jacket pattern's smallest size is a 10, and I am smaller than that. Is there another comparable pattern you would suggest? Dont laff but Im about 29-24-33.

Thanx! Sounds like fun!

Hi Mary,

I'm new to this forum but have been lurking for a while.

I'd like to join you in making this jacket. It'll give me a reason to look through my fabric stash to see what I can use.

I'd like to crop it to mid-hip though. In different colours and fabrics, it would make great office wear.

Katie, I have the same question. I'm anxious to see how this works, too. I am tickled pink to get this opportunity to work along with others and take advantage of the built-in motivation. Has anybody else here ever done this type of thing? If so, will you please fill all us Newbies in on the procedures?

I'm in! I've had the pattern for awhile also. I also have a Loes Hinse pattern that I have yet to work up as well.

I'll be looking for a fabric that provides coverage yet is very lightweight. There's not much call for a denim jacket in 115 degree Arizona summer. I'm thinking linen.

This project sounds like fun! Thanks for getting us "in gear!"

Welcome to all newcomers. :bluesmile

I am so glad we are all doing this together.

I will be posting here regularly to let you know when lessons appear.

I will open up a new discussion just for questions on this jacket. I think linen would be a fine choice. Denim is fine too, corduroy or any suit weight fabrics.

This jacket goes up to a size 22.

This week I will be posting the preliminary preparations. For instance, choosing fabric and laying out pattern pieces on grain and cutting out.

Each week I will give you your steps. Between myself and the pattern directions we can make ourselves a nice summer jacket.
You will be able to ask any questions you have. This workshop is to help you with your sewing skills and become more confident sewing in general. :bluesmile

Mary,
Not little,, Just short... That is why I love petite plus..... They are so long overdue in this world...That is why I started copying all my patterns on tissue paper years ago, easier than messing with a bunch of folds on the original to make them fit a short, heavy person...:bg: :bg:

OK, I ordered the pattern and today at Walmart they had some red denim on sale for $2.00 a yd. I bought 3 yds. Not sure how much I will need for the "short" jacket and also going to use some for a lining for a tote bag.

I would love to make the jacket, but I am not good at jackets. I have tried to make at least four different jackets and have failed with each one. I don't think I want to fail again with this jacket. Therefore I will pass. However I do look forward to other projects.
