Mary, I hate to correct you on this, but the fleece being sold on that page it not Malden Mills fleece, which is made by Malden Mills in the USA, Massechuesetts (I probably spelled that wrong!) if I'm not mistaken. This is Yukon fleece which is made by a different manufacturer in Canada. |

Yes, you are so correct. I posted incorrectly, sorry. It is Yukon fleece.

BTW, I like the Yukon fleece as much as or better than the Malden Mills stuff. I find the Malden Mills fleece is highly overrated IMHO and overpriced! |

Just a quick note on polar fleece. I had my own fabric shop for six years and sold lots of polar fleece. As you might know, there are lots of different grades of polar fleece. Some is very lightweight, some is double thick, and so forth. I think Malden Mills website might show some of the different kinds. It was frustrating when people would see polar fleece at Wal-Mart and then wonder why my price was different. Theirs was thinner than mine and very stretchy and the colors and prints were end of the mill runs, usually. I think they even make a windproof polar fleece now, so there is lots to choose from. It is a great fabric to work with! |

There are a lot of variations in polar fleece. Sewers wo use both are usually more pleased with Yukon (Huntingdon Mills). 1) Malden has no standard color program -- you can only purchase what is currently on the floor. You can reorder Yukon fleeces in a large number of standard colors. 2) Malden fleeces come with relatively high defect rates. When we cut through rolls, we lose about 5% in Malden vs virtually 0% with Huntingdon (when you are at a retailer, count for the little white tags on the roll ends! Malden has done a wonderful job of promoting their brand so there are a lot of folks that no of no other top quality mills. They also have a wider range of fleeces and technical knits. Finally, I think Huntingdon Mills could do a little marketing -- Yukon gets lost with all the retailers house names like "Nordic, Alpine, Arctic, Far North...etc" LeeAnne
