Has anyone tried these patterns? I would love to try one, but I don't ever intend on wearing this stuff.

The details are really interesting, like watching an old movie. What do you think of these patterns, do you know of anyone who would sew these up and really wear them?

I would -- I would if they would fit. But they are too small for me. That's why I have a doll. She wears the doll size vintage looks all the time.
I absolutely love the deco look of the early 20th century and the glam of 40s and 50s.
With the right fabric you can update the looks so they are just suggestive of retro -- or take more modern and classic styles and, with the right fabric, make them look suggestive of retro too.

I love the vintage patterns. I have a hundred actual vintage patterns for dresses, slacks and suits. The size 16 fits me almost perfectly, I just have to lengthen the waist and sleeves and inch. Cracks me up, because I just bought a size zero skirt. Yes, ZERO! What will people smaller than me wear? A size negative two???

Anyway, I wear the clothes ballroom dancing, at home, out to dinner, and in the office. Just about anywhere.

I have made several Vintage Vogue and Vintage Butterick outfits for my 15 yr old daughter who loves the look. I haven't tried any for myself but DD absolutely prefers them over today's styles. Go for it!!! Happy Stitching! Marty

I totally agree with Dorothy. I'm sure you can make great, very stylish - yet not "quaint" - clothes with those patterns provided you use the "right" fabric.

They are soooo tailored and fitted. They look fine on someone with a nice figure. :nervous:

I actually bought some vintage patterns on EBAY. Yesterday I made one up. The pattern is a Simpicity pattern in sort of a late 60's early 70's style. Actually the copyright says 1971. I found the pattern was just much better. Better instructions good measurements. And if you make the pattern in an updated fabric it is very retro while still be fashionable.
