I came accross a saying in my grandmothers journal I understand it but I cant find the basic terms to explain it to my son. I think the saying is in the basic form and he is yanking my chain. I need a laman's explanation or better yet a male interpetation. Sometimes The Good You Do, Dosn't Do You Any Good. It is written over and over in this journal any time she talks about a friend. I would ask her but this is the one that has passed on. The more you disaprove, the more fun I am having!

I think what your grandmother is saying Aimee is that when you do a kind deed for someone else you shouldn't do it expecting something just as nice to be done for or given to you in return. That may not be it but I think it's pretty close. Patsy Patsy

Or, that no matter how hard you try, it's never good enough.

I am in agreement with Mary's interpretation... It seems like a negative statement in my opinion.. Just my 2 cents.. Karen Karen

This is more politely phrased, but it definitely reminds me of something Robert Benchley once said: No good deed goes unpunished." MariLynntx Life is a song...we give it harmony or dissonance.
