I like to iron my seams, facings etc, but on seersucker the fabric looses its texture. Any ideas on how to prevent this? I like the look of a crisp turned edge, flat seam joinings.

I iron with just the very tip of my iron....one of the craft irons might be easier to use...don't iron any more than you must.

Thanks for your quick response Pam. I was afraid that was what I was going to have to do. It's what I've been doing and am not happy with the results. I even looked at the mini iron at Joann's today and thought about getting it for just this problem. BTW it is 40% off right now. I still may end up getting one. I did put a folded bath towel on my ironing board today and pressed very lightly and that seemed to do better, barely, but better just the same.

When you wash the finished product the seersucker should resume its crinkle. |

How about a seam stick or even the the small straight pressing ham. That way, you would only be pressing the seam itself as the rest of the fabric would be dropping down the sides and not be susceptible to iron. Patsy Patsy

A light touch and heavy shot of steam works well for me. Dorothy |
