OK people, if anybody fancies a "virtual tour" my holiday piccies from Turkey are here (we went just after easter)

http://homepage.mac.com/tony.p.hodge/PhotoAlbum8.html

be sure to view the second page too follow the link at the top of the page to Turkey 2004-2 or:

You might want to have a look, there are pictures of my husband and I in top to toe rubberwear! ( and of course, I am stomping around ruins again...)

The turks were the most friendly people and absolutely adored young children. Not that I have any, but somehow we always seem to find them...

Thanks people,I keep referring to Tony as Bond...James Bond whenever he flashes his rubberwear...
this was one of our "leave the kids and run away on some marriage enhancing time" sometimes we just go to a DIY store but we always make the effort to have a 'date' once a week.

Jan, awesome pictures. How old is the Ephesus, what was the weather like, it looked warm. Very interesting trip.

Much better than a DIY store. :bg:

This was my first ever dive, and although I had a mild panic attack at one point it was wonderful to swim with the pipefish, guorami and so on thought the octopus wouldn't come out to play! Tony of course wants to keep doing it! Mild panic attack meant that rather gorgeous young man looked after me personally - shame! I don't swim well but you don't really need to swm that well to scuba dive. I can see us doing it again.

Ephesus was old when Saint Paul came to preach in the big auditoreum and caused a riot! Originally founded by Androcles in 10C BC it was rebuilt by Alexander the Great (as far as I can remember) and is a superb example of a Roman city in its prime. They have only dug up 25% !!

We had a great time.

The first time my son went diving, he panicked too. Good thing his buddy was with him.

Flight was four hours to Turkey from Gatwick and an hour to transfer to our hotel. It took us three hours to drive to Ephesus through an amazing mountain range. The scuba diving was in a bay just down the coast.

We normally holiday in France - having grown up on the south coast of England I've always been used to being closer to France than Canterbury - you could see the French coast out of my bedroom window if the weather was right. Going somewhere other than France was scary - I'm used to being able to communicate in a foreign land. It was very strange, they all spoke English- in France they speak French as a matter of principle! It's only been 100 years since we haven't been at war with France, and that started in 1066...racial memories go deep.

lu@sew for other vitual tour of Places Where I have Been check out Tony's website http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tony.hodge1/ vendee 2003 has me and katie playing with menhirs and Tony as Richard the Lionheart...
