Hello: I've been a (lurking) member for awhile and I hope someone will be able to help. I made a Mommy doll for my granddaughter (actually a Raggedy Ann doll with her mom's face ironed on) and it remains unfinished because I'm having trouble figuring out how to make (& attach) the wig. Does anyone know where I can get a pre-made wig to fit a small rag doll? Any help is greatly appreciated. Shelly

I'm not a doll maker but one of my patterns had me wrap yarn like you would if you were making a tassel...then remove it from the cardboard put a piece of twill tape, bias tape, ribbon or something similar under the center and sew through it all. Then, my pattern had me just sew the tape onto the doll. I'm sure there are several methods but this worked for my topsy turvy doll.

Thank you, I'll try this. The instructions talk about wrapping the yarn around cardboard, then to attach to the cut out "wig" piece of fabric, but it neglects to mention how to attach everything to the doll. This Simplicity pattern was rather intimidating and I just stopped. My son has been waiting for the Daddy doll to be made and I've been stalling. Fixing the wig will help nudge me along. Thanks again!! Shelly

It has been a while since I did it but I believe that I simply placed the wig starting at the front center where i wanted it and then whipped the tape into place under the wig "hair". I believe that when I did it the doll was already assembled...otherwise I would have done it by machine. The wig had a natural part so I just pulled the "hair" to each side and braided or tied it.
