I got the bright idea to make drapes for my living room from twin bed flat sheets. One window is 4 windows wide, one is three windows wide, and one is just a single window. I can't afford to purchase ready made drapes, so can someone tell me how to do this with the sheets. My husband wants to be able to close the drapes at night, but I don't want to use pleater tape. Any ideas? HELP!!!!!!!!

As long as a casual look is OK you can easily do this. Make rod pocket curtains by sewing an extra seam in the hem of the sheet to hold the curtain rod. Hem the bottom to whatever length you want. Use the excess you cut off to make tie backs, or buy nice cording to make them. Tie them back during the day, let them loose at night and simply pull them to meet at the center of the window.

I have hopes of doing it so it can be put on the draw rods...that's what's creating the problems. How about using rings or something, then putting the hooks through them and onto the rods? Any other ideas will be greatly appeciated.:bluesmile

Of course you can use rings so you can open & close them at will. You can buy different styles of rods that come with rings also, as I'm sure you know. Some of the rings clip onto the material & others sew on to the fabric. Have a blast checking out what's out there & sure you'll find just what your looking for. Good luck & happy hunting.
