I recently saw a demo for the Dressmaker 6800 and was very impressed. But I'd like to find out more about the machine and if anyone else has ever heard/used one. I'd like to make sure it's as good as it looks before investing in one. Anyone out there know anything? BTW, this is a great site. I just found it. I'm a beginning sewing (for the last 30 years - I sewed in high school). Martha

Could not find any info searching for the Dressmaker sewing machine. These machines are made by Euro-Pro which my dealer does not recommend. Said that parts are hard to come by and they do not hold up well. He's been in business since 1949 so I trust his judgement. If you're looking for a new machine, visit different dealers and take a test drive using your own fabrics. Buying a sewing machine is a lot like buying a vehicle. There is one out there for every person that is within their budget. If you do not wish to invest a lot of $$$ at this point, I would recommend trying one of the Kenmore sewing machines which are made by Janome. I bought a vintage (circa 1942) Kenmore machine at a thrift shop for $12; spent $39 getting it serviced; $5 for a box of cams plus $5 for 6 extra presser feet and bobbins. I now have a wonderful machine for those stormy days that I don't want to use my computerized model. Sews beautifully. Good luck on your search. Happy Stitching! Marty

Euro-Pro does not make sewing machines. It is just a brand name that is put on low quality models by an ironing board distributor, just as Dressmaker is only a label. Bill Holman |
