Every time I get a pants set, I need to adjust the pants, stretch or not, I have to take in one whole size . I'll love to do it myself, but I don't know how. Also I'm short waisted so I need to take that 2 inches. Thanks for your help.

To alter pants to a smaller size, one must first have accurate measurements of one's body. Compare the body measurements
to the pants being altered being sure to leave a comfortable ease. If the crotch length needs to be shortened one can take off the waist band and reduce the amount at the top. This may alter the inseam length. Be careful. Another way is to remove all of the seams and using a pants pattern that fits, redraw the pants to the new size. Sew them up again. Sounds as if you're comfortable buying RTW, then you would need to purchase separates in the correct fitting size. Nothing is more frustrating than to have to alter pants after paying RTW prices. Hope this helps some. Happy Stitching!

One way to fit for alterations is to put the pants on wrong side out. Then pin parallel in the seams where the fit is what you want. Mark along the pins with chalk or soap slivers. Tie a string or elastic around the waist where you want it and mark that with the same before you take the pants off. Then rip and resew to your hearts content. I always have to alter the back waistband because of a sway back, but I buy RTW because we can't seem to get the good fabrics in the stores or else the trims etc are not available. Hope you can understand this.
