I posted last week about this project for my mom. After much discussion and searching we decided on our pattern. I got her scarf in the mail on Sat. so I could match up the fabric. What I am going to be making is a dressy top with sheer sleeves. On the sheer scarf she sent me, which by the way does not have enough material to make the sleeves, it looks like the edge is just rolled and sewn. I don't have a serger and don't know that I could achieve that look without one. In some of my books I have seen what appears to be a edge made out of fabric around the edges. What I am wondering is if I should be saving some of the material from the body of the top and use that to bind the hem edge of these sheer sleeves? If I do that, how do I do that, I have never finished anything in that fashion before. I am using this fabric for the body of the top. http://www.joann.com/catalog.jhtml?CATID=57775&PRODID=44095 It is silk essence, in the blue. The gal at JoAnn's who I have been told by other workers there, is a master seamstress, and she said it is great to work with. Then we are putting a light blue sheer on for the sleeves. I could really use some input here. This is with Kwik Sew 3020, B. Which by the way, is a great pattern. Thanks everyone. Jolene
