OK - you fashion mavens.... here is my dilemna:

I am getting used to and liking the capris and cropped pants - but for summer, it seems EZ - shoe decision is sandals, etc.

BUT

I have a GREAT fabric I am resurrecting a problem new pattern (Tribecca Shirt from Sewing Workshop) with, and want to first cut pants. This will be a pretty much year-round ensemble - sew...., I'm wondering:

What length should I make the pant?
If I cropped them - what type of shoe would look good come fall or winter? Matching dark hose and dark shoe? I'm just not good when it comes to those kind of details.

Besides - though I want it to look 'new, up-to-date, I'm thinking perhaps there is nothing wrong with classic. This fabric is a woven textured stripe - kind of flowy, so was considering even a one seam fuller pant.

Thoughts? Advice?

I wouldn't crop pants that you want to wear in the winter unless you live in a warm climate. You won't want to wear them come November through March. First, you will freeze your calves off and secondly you will feel a little out of place.
But that's just how I feel -- and what do I know?

I think Dorothy is right. Here in central Texas I might wear some pants one or two inches above the ankle in winter, but more than likely, I would make them definitely ankle length. I wear the shorter capris all summer, but when October rolls around, I'll wear them ankle length or an inch longer. I did custom sewing for about 40 years and I have seen pants rise and fall over and over again! MariLynntx

Londa, you mentioned dressing more casual. What shoe do you think you will wear usually? that will give you a hint.

Londa, I would go for a nice boots, heel not too high but not too low either. They have such nice models out now.

Londa, DeDe is right...boots, high or low, are an attractive and stylish option with shorter pants. MariLynntx
