I want everyone to know that I am very aware of how slow the site is moving lately. Our server is having huge problems handling the traffic.

To remedy this, the site will be moving to a new server beginning Monday. We will have more bandwidth and things will be moving at a stronger pace.

The site will be on a server with only one other large site and we are hoping things will be smooth sailing. If this does not resolve the problems, we may need a dedicated server just for Sew Whats New. This can be costly, but we will take it one step at a time. I am not going to panic just yet. :whacky:

The site will be moving Monday, I am not sure how long this will take or what glitches we may come up against.

Many thanks for not yelling at me or complaining. It has been as difficult for me as it has been for everyone else. Again, I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience.

Mary thanks for the explanation and heads up about what to expect. All sites go through this type of server problem and lots change servers and have down time. We'll miss coming here for a brief time and then the site should be easier to use. Try not to stress out over it.

Thanks for informing us Mary. I too thought it was my computer but since everything else worked fine I thought my husband messed with something & didn't have a clue what. Now I'll have to tell him it wasn't something he did after all. Oh, he'll love that & I'll never live it down. Me & my big mouth.I kept telling him that it was my favorite site & wanted it back. Guess I'll have to do something real special for him now. Theresa

Thanks for letting us know. I thought it might be the site as I wasn't experiencing the same problem on other sites. Good luck with the change over.

The Bernina USA site lost a server and was a whole lot slower than this for several days...this is nothing. We just get used to having instant everything. Thanks for your concern.

Ok Gals, we can blame it on my husband, why not ? He has broad shoulders & besides, I won't tell him. He sure laughed when I told him it wasn't something he did. He loves it when he's right. That's a guy thing. I fixed him a good dinner even though I'm on a liquid diet right now. Had surgery on some teeth last week & having big problems with it. Can hardly open my mouth. Wouldn't most husbands love that ? LOL. Have to say though I'm getting tender lovin care. Keep me laughing , this site is the best. Theresa:up:

Thanks Mary for the info. Since I hadn't seen anyone else complaining I thought I was the only one. I was ready the
:throw: . I did a complete housekeeping job .:bg: I have deleted, compressed, compacted, checked for viruses and parasites til I'm  . Thanks for the warning of the pending changes. Hope we don't get any glitches like we did last time but we will get thru this.

I'm having problems with my computer but couldn't get on the site all last week and thought it was my computer and asked Bren and she said she wasn't having problems so I thought it was my computer after all. Thanks for letting me know it's not my :whacky: computer. LOL

look on the bright side Brockie, you got a spring clean in !
Thanks for all your hard work, O Great Moderator Mary, we would be lost without you. And we'd likely all lose each other which would be a tradegy.

:nc: Now it is scheduled for tonight. Thought I would let you know, just in case it really happens.

Here is their latest message from this afternoon.

Hi Mary,

The server has been provisioned over the weekend for both yourself and Susan. Dan has installed some of the security software and will have APF Firewall installed this evening.

I would have had the data moved, but Dan insists that all security must be in place on your server before 1k of data is moved. I am working on compressing both your data and the data for Secondwivesclub as we speak and the transfer will begin tonight.

ETA is currently 48 hours minimum, beyond the migration of name servers.

I will keep both of you posted as we get closer.

I think it's over. This is something like hiding in the cellar until the storm is over. :bluesmile

I will check with the server people later today. They have a 4 hr. time change from us, they just barely got into bed.
