I am new to the forum and I am excited about learning to sew with the free on-line Beginner Sewing class by Julie Culshaw on this web cite. She suggests in her first class that you purchase one of a few patterns-almost all of which have been discontinued. The one that hasn't been discontinued isn't available in my area. It would take a while to order on-line and doesn't really appeal to me.

I would like suggestions of easy first-sewing-project pull on skirts either Vogue or Mc Calls preferably and Simplicity as a third choice (since I can get them locally) without slits that are long(past the knee) that I could use in place of:
McCalls 2955
McCalls 2957
Simplicity 7655
KWIK SEW 2805 (this one I can get on-line)

I prefer a more current style.
Any ideas folks?
Please e-mail your reply as well to me at <email address removed for privacy>

Thanks!

Hi KaylaG, welcome to Sew Whats New. :bluesmile

The lessons from Julie are very basic and patterns come and go. She gave those as examples. It's easy to go to the Vogue or McCalls site and find beginner sewing patterns.

Another idea is to go to www.sewingpatterns.com and have a peek at what they have. The Stitch 'n Save patterns are fine for students.
