Please respond here if you can help this lady, thanks. I have a question that I hope that you can help me with. I have a customer that wants me to make her a pair of low cut jeans with a boot cut. I would like to know if you know how to determin how much to ad to the pant let to make it a boot cut? How do I determin how many inches to make it a boot cut? I am most likey going to have to make the pattern pieces to get what my customer wants. Connie MaryW

When my daughter asks me to make her a pair of pants that are wider, I ask her to bring me a pair that she likes and I measure the bottom. Then, I make the alterations proportional to the ones the likes (some pants are narrower across the front.) That also give me a chance to see where the pants that she likes gets wider...in the calf, at the knee, etc.

P.S. Trace your pattern off on a piece of paper and make your alterations on that paper. Keep it for YOUR file. I never give a pattern that I have "remade" to my customer because they may come back to another...and I also have been known to pull it out later to use if I need it for another customer.
