I have my hemp pants all cut out. It is an old Kwik Sew pattern. The elastic waistband goes around the back, the front waistband is flat. Nice side pockets.

These will make up in no time, they are navy so will go with everything. :bluesmile

I have enough fabric left over for maybe a vest or something.

When I hear the word 'hemp' I think of the large ropes used on ships and boats.. I cannot imaging what hemp fabric feels like.. Isn't it too rough to put next to skin.. Does it have another name maybe ?? I thought I knew about every fabric made, but I have never heard of this..:whacky: :bg: :whacky: :bg:

What I've seen looks and feels a lot like linen. Does it wash well Mary? What is the price range?

It washes very well. I washed and dried 3 times to make sure it didn't shrink after I had it made up. Hemp looks and acts like linen. It is soft and very easy to work with, just like linen.

I think it was about $15. yd and it's 54" wide. Very hard to find around here.

It must be the hippies in us Dorothy, I can't take a joint out of the oven without the teens having coniptions. They do a very nice hemp hand lotion in the Body Shop - and and extra strength one called elbow grease for your elbows..

Oh yeah, squeeze it in your hand and it wrinkles quite a bit.

Pockets and pleats in, side and inner seams sewn. Just have to put on the waistband and run elastic thru. :bluesmile

Done and they look nice too. Very nice flat front. I wore them this weekend. :bg:

After working with hemp, your machine will need a good cleaning. It is a very "dirty" fabric, lots of fibre and fuzz flying around. I had to clean the serger too.

Ok, now on to the linen top. Woo Hoo. :bg:

Had just enough hemp left to make a sleeveless shell with square neckline. Makes an elegant outfit with the matching pant.
Oh my, I'm just too smart for myself today. LOL. :bg:

Were you extra clever and made the jacket you're giving lessons on to match?
